For the Foodies
One our favorite things about Central Virginia is the southern food culture. We love to eat, cook, and share a meal with our friends and family. There are so many great options around us, but here are a few of our favorites near the Pine Creek property.
Woodruff’s Pie Shop
We do not exaggerate when we say this is the best pie in Virginia. This family owned shop is nearly 70 years old. Since the beginning, they have been serving up homemade pies with a side of southern hospitality.
In the summer, we recommend the hand-spun peach milkshakes. The fried apple pie is the best seller, but our personal favorite is the pecan pie. We would be remiss if we didn’t suggest you also go for something savory - our favorite is the pimento cheese sandwich.

Saunders Brothers Farm Market
There is no better place to stock up on snacks for a day-hike or gifts for family and friends on your way out of town. The farm market is just five minutes from the Pine Creek Tiny House.
“Saunders Brothers grows quality peaches, apples, Asian pears, cherries, flowering shrubs, annuals and perennials. You can find these products and much more at our retail Farm Market, located just five miles from our orchard in Piney River. Stop by and stock up on local produce, our own farm raised beef and pork, and a wide variety of jams, jellies and pickles. Try our mouth-watering peach ice cream, and visit our onsite farm antique museum! We offer something for everyone.”

The Filling Station
If you’re in the mood for a burger and fries, this is your spot. Homemade pork rinds and potato chips are the perfect sides for the all beef hot dogs or Angus burgers. For the vegetarian in your group, go for the fried green tomatoes.
For the beer enthusiasts, check out the store where you can buy a growler or two of craft beer to take with you.
